The Victory Celebration Blog Party
Hello friends! I need your help with something exciting that I’m cooking up with an author friend!
May is just around the corner, and I’d been thinking I wanted to do something special to promote my new book Trains and Tulips: A Novel of the World War II Dutch Resistance on May 5th, which is Dutch Liberation Day (the day the Nazi occupation authorities in the Netherlands surrendered to the Allies in 1945.)
And, May 8th is V-E Day (Victory in Europe, the day in 1945 that the German surrender to the Allies took effect, ending World War II in Europe.) It’s also the one-year anniversary of my author friend Phoebe Hinkle publishing her World War II historical fiction book, We Gave Our Tomorrows, and she was wanting to do some sort of blog tour/party to celebrate that.
So, we decided to team up and host a little blog celebration together that we’re calling the Victory Celebration Blog Party! We’ll be doing some themed blog posts and a giveaway of our books (and maybe a couple of other WWII books, too, and fun bookish merch!) It’s a celebration of freedom, hope, heroism, and history, (and, of course, a way to promote our books! ☺️) and we need your help!
How you can participate:
Send us your questions!
We’ll be doing blog posts where the characters in our books are being interviewed by newspaper reporters (aka: us, the authors). So if you have any questions you’d like our book characters to answer, just leave a comment!
Feature one or both of us on your blog.
Another way to participate is to interview either me or Phoebe, or both of us on your blog, or have one or both of us write a guest post for you during the party (May 1st through 9th). Contact me if you’re interested in this! We’ll then share the link to the interview or guest post on our own blogs also.
Write your own WWII-themed post.
Or you can write your own WWII-related post and publish it during the blog party (May 1st through 9th). It could be a list of some of your favorite WWII books or movies, a story from WWII history, a devotional inspired by something WWII-related, or whatever you think of that fits with the theme of World War II and freedom and hope! If you’d like to participate by writing a post, let me know what you’re going to write and when you’ll post it, and send me the link to your blog. I’ll have a list of all the participating blogs on my blog. We’ll have some graphics you can use in your post if you like, and we just ask that you link back to the two host blogs and the giveaway in your post! (Note: We do reserve the right to not share a blog if we deem it contains content unsuitable for our readers.)
Share about our books/the celebration on another online platform.
If you don’t have a blog but do have another online platform you’d like to use to participate, that’s fine, too! Or just tell your family and friends about it! However you want to help spread the word about our wholesome, hope-filled, Jesus-focused WWII historical fiction books would be great!
Review our books.
And the other way you can participate is by reviewing one or both of our books. If you’ve already read my book Trains and Tulips or Phoebe’s book We Gave Our Tomorrows, writing a review would be so helpful! Of course, we love long reviews, but even just a sentence or two is great! If you haven’t read my book, I’d be happy to send you a PDF for free in exchange for a review. Or if you’re like me and hate reading on a screen, I can give you a discounted paperback in exchange for a review. Just contact me if you’re interested! Phoebe is also offering a limited number of digital copies of her book in exchange for a review, so just reach out to her through her website here if you’re interested in that!
Well, I think that covers it! Let me know if you have any questions or ideas!
And as always, remember, “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it,” (1 Thess. 5:24).
All for Him,
Savannah Jane
